Home » MiniYellow – a first model
MINI YELLOW launched a new product – an autonomous unit sited in residential buildings, giving immediate, easy access to a range of food products.
They came to us to produce a first trial model of it.
We produced sketches and a 3D model to the client’s brief and sent it to print in FDM.
A trial model of an autonomous unit is not meant to work – it is meant to answer questions: are the proportions right, is the access door at a comfortable height, how does it look next to a building entrance. Those questions cannot be answered on a screen.
FDM printing is the cheapest per unit of volume, and on a first model that is exactly what is wanted: maximum size at minimum cost, because there is going to be a second version anyway. As the product moves towards production we would switch to a technology that gives finish and strength – MJF, for instance.

Send us a file or a description of the problem and you will get a recommendation on technology, material and timescale – talk to an engineer. See more of our projects.
