Home » Kan 11 – a microphone mount
Kan 11 came to us to produce a microphone mount.
A modelling and production project run from the first stages of defining what the client needed, through sketches, to adapting the design for manufacture.
The model was printed in MJF in PA12 and painted.
A microphone mount in a television studio is judged by two tests that pull against each other. Visually it has to be clean and not shiny, because studio lighting exposes every flaw and bounces off every reflective surface. Mechanically it has to hold without vibrating, because vibration goes straight onto the soundtrack. The answer was a geometry with enough mass at the base and a completely matte finish.
