Home » Knafit – surgical exhibition models
Knafit 3D came to us to 3D print models for a surgical exhibition in the medical field.
We moved from FDM filament printing to a more advanced technology – nylon 12 powder printing called MJF – combined with titanium.
Models for a surgical exhibition are examined closely, in the hand, by doctors. FDM leaves visible layer lines and limits how much detail is possible on small parts – what works for checking proportions does not work in front of a professional audience.
MJF in nylon 12 solves both: an even matte surface with no layer lines, and the accuracy to print thin elements such as surgical instruments and anatomical structures. Combining it with titanium components gives the real look and weight of the implant.
Send us a file or a description of the problem and you will get a recommendation on technology, material and timescale – talk to an engineer. See more of our projects.
