ICL – a distinctive minerals company producing solutions to sustainability challenges
came to us to help them produce something for the company’s own staff.
We received a 3D file, made the changes it needed for production, and sent it to print in two different technologies.
The first was MJF – powder printing – and the second was PolyJet, liquid printing, one of whose advantages is the ability to print a product in full colour.
After printing and the various finishing steps we sent ICL the finished product, which serves as a measurement kit for the technicians working at the company.
The model was printed twice, in two different technologies, because each has a different advantage. MJF gives a durable, functional part in nylon 12 – one that can be used day to day. PolyJet prints in liquid resin and allows full colour directly in the print, which gives a model that speaks visually.
Many customers think they have to choose one technology. In practice, when it is a tool that people use in the field, it is worth printing a quick test version in one technology and the final product in another. See all the printing technologies we run under one roof.
Send us a file or a description of the problem and you will get a recommendation on technology, material and timescale – talk to an engineer. See also product design and development and 3D printing production.
